ISO 39001
ISO 39001:2012 for Road Traffic Safety Management Systems (RTSMS) defines the requirements of a comprehensive RTSMS to allow companies interacting with road systems (such as organizations with delivery drivers) to reduce the risk of death, serious injury, and costly property damage resulting from road accidents. Furthermore, it defines what are the necessary and useful elements for the correct management of good practices surrounding road safety.
Like other ISO standards, ISO 39001 can be easily integrated with other certifications within the same organization, such as ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 for a holistic approach to managing all aspects of a business in concert with each other.
An ISO 39001 certification audit consists of evaluating the client’s processes with respect to transport systems and road safety, verifying the degree of exposure to risk and analyzing the actions taken to proactively reduce both the probability of an incident occurring as well as the severity of such occurrences.
The ISO 39001 standard is applicable to any type of organization, regardless of the sector and the product/service provided. In particular, it meets the needs of companies with traveling personnel, freight and passenger transport companies, as well as organizations that generate high volumes of traffic (shopping centers, hospitals, schools, public bodies, etc.) and companies in the automotive sector.
