In the world of auditing, where meticulous attention to detail is paramount, there’s a story unfolding that transcends the confines of spreadsheets and reports. It’s the story of Howard Henderson, a member of the PJR auditing family who is battling against a rare form of Leukemia with courage and spirit.
Howard’s journey began when he was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML), a rare and aggressive manifestation of the disease. However, rather than succumbing to his diagnoses, Howard faced it head-on, determined to fight with everything he had.
At M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, Howard found hope in the form of a potential stem cell donor: his sister Lisa. As they prepare for what Howard calls his “BIG DANCE,” a term used to describe his personal “March Madness” journey, the significance of support becomes abundantly clear.
April 7th marks Howard’s return to the hospital to begin a rigorous chemotherapy regimen, a necessary step to prepare his body for the life-saving stem cell transplantation scheduled for April 15th. Throughout it all, Howard’s resilience still shines through.
But Howard’s story isn’t just about his battle against this illness. It’s about the way he selflessly extends a helping hand to others, even in the midst of his own struggles. Known for his willingness to offer support, guidance, and prayers to anyone in need, Howard embodies the true spirit of generosity.

“Howard: I have greatly enjoyed your story and the successes that have come a long with it. I know this is a long journey for you. Your motivation and positivity are so inspiring for all who read about it. I wish you much success as you continue through the intense chemotherapy; and send prayers to you and your family for the strength to get through this together. Many well wishes my friend.”

Howard Henderson has been an inspiration to me. From when he first told us about his diagnosis, we all felt how positive he was facing a serious health crisis. I was amazed at his strength and commitment to work. He still kept some of his virtual audits while going through treatment in the hospital. When most people would focus only on their health, he had the strength and determination to keep moving forward. I was frightened for Howard when we first learned of his Cancer and that thought faded as I know Howard has a deep faith in God and is the strongest person I know.”
